Adv. Vizzy George’s legal career began in Ernakulam at M K Damodaran & Associates, under the mentorship of Adv. M K Damodaran, then Advocate General of Kerala. Exposure to high-profile cases ignited his passion for IPR and Technology Law. To pursue this interest, he joined the inaugural IPR program at Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1999, laying the groundwork for his future.
After completing his LLM, Adv. George practiced in various courts before joining Fox & Mandal's IPR Division in Bangalore. By 2003, his growing expertise led him to co-found Marks & Rights alongside Adv. Arun Abraham.
The story of Marks & Rights began with the shared vision of two ambitious young advocates—Adv. Vizzy George and Adv. Arun Abraham. In 2003, they co-founded a law firm in Kerala with a clear goal to establish a pan-India presence, specializing in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Technology Law, and Arbitration.
From its inception, Marks & Rights emphasized excellence and specialization in IPR and litigation. The firm quickly earned a strong reputation, attracting corporate and individual clients. The firm's success stemmed from its ability to attract outstanding talent and build a highly skilled team.
Though Adv. Arun Abraham, a co-founder, moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2005, a devoted team comprising Adv. PS Sidharthan, Adv. Harikumar, Adv. Aravindakumar, and Adv. Thomas Roy sustained the firm's pace. Marks & Rights continued to gain many Tier 1 corporate clients and strengthened its area of expertise.
In 2007, the firm further strengthened with the addition of Adv. Bovan Cherian Varkey as a partner, who brought expertise in trademark portfolio management and commercial contracts. The team continued to grow, broadening its areas of specialization.
By 2010, Marks & Rights had assembled a robust team, including experts such as Adv. Sadanathan in general litigation, customs, and civil law, and Adv. Sajin CS in property law, conveyancing, and registration.
Today, Marks & Rights, with its formidable team of experts, has evolved from being a boutique IPR specialist to a full-service law firm, managing the legal requirements of clients across industries and overseeing over 2,000 trademark portfolios across India. Built upon collaboration, legal expertise, and commitment to justice, the firm exemplifies ambition, teamwork, and dedication.
